Festival of St Rose

Every year, at 9 p.m. on 3 September, the procession of the 'macchina' (float) of St Rose sets off from the church of S. Sisto.

This imposing contraption is carried through the streets of the town by about 100 facchini for over a kilometre to the church dedicated to Viterbo's patron saint. Decorated with hundreds of fairy lights, it moves through the streets crowded with locals and tourists. The street lights are turned off for the occasion.
